An Eclectic Gender-Neutral Nursery

An Eclectic Gender-Neutral Nursery

Name: Miriam
Location: Asheville, NC

We have been renovating our 1922 bungalow for the last two years, and this room is for our first child. We elected not to find out the gender until birth.

Creating a gender neutral space was a lot of fun and more in line with our personal decorating style (no themes). We're big fans of supporting local artists (most of the prints in the room were created locally) and using art to bring in color and interest.

We also didn't go the traditional crib route - instead we plan on using a baby hammock for sleeping. Usually cribs are the focal point of a nursery, so it was a fun design challenge to work around that missing piece. Many of the pieces we already owned or acquired from our local Craigslist, helping keep our budget in check. No matter the gender, we feel this will be a room where our child can grow and play without changing a thing!

Thanks, Jen and congratulations on Miriam's arrival! To see more of Jen, visit her blog - From the Block.
