Happy trails, Google Reader...you were much beloved and are sure to be missed by many. With Google Reader RSS feed service ending today (July 1) for good, many users are scrambling to migrate to an alternative RSS solution, most notably Feedly, which offers a bevy of cloud and interface features which softens the pain of making the switch...

Feedly has simplified their migration feature for Google Reader users into an extremely simple and painless 3-step

How to Switch from Google Reader to Feedly

1. Log In to Google: Make sure you are logged in to your Google Reader account

2. Go to Feedly.comYou'll be greeted by the landing page pictured above, which offers an easy-to-spot big blue button denoting Feedly's one-click import feature.

3. Grant permission for Feedly to import your Google Reader bookmarks and data: Feedly will then request permission to access your Google account. In my case, I had two different accounts to choose from. I choose my personal account where my primary Google Reader is assigned, Feedly will then access data from your Google Reader account to populate your new Feedly page.

That's it! Enjoy! Just a moment later, my Feedly page was filled with the same RSS feed content as my soon-to-be-gone Google Reader account, but now fortified with additional cloud features, app synchronization, and a titles-only view which former Google Reader users will appreciate for easier feed scanning, especially when navigating using Feedly's keyboard shortcuts

Here are more resources for migrating from specific mobile devices and browsers, which either offer an extension or app solution:

* Migration done using Chrome on OS X 10.8.4
