Bride & Groom: Lauren & Kevin
Wedding Date: August 2, 2015
Venue: Lauren's parents' backyard!
Number of guests: 50

Vintage-style lovers, do I have a treat for you. Here's a lovely little wedding—just 50 guests—that came together as a family affair. The couple said "I do" right in the bride's parents' backyard in Alberta, Canada, with the bride's mother and sister stepping in to take care of much of the planning and details for this picturesque day.

Everything about the day was bathed in a romantic, vintage style. Florals took center stage in the lush bouquets and centerpieces—plus the beautiful floral robes bride Lauren's bridal party wore to get ready. And there were plenty of authentic vintage details, too, from the antique tea cups all the way down to Lauren's shoes, the same shoes Lauren's mom wore at her own wedding decades ago. And still my favorite detail might just be the wine blending that Lauren, Kevin and their officiant added to their ceremony to represent the two becoming one.

Check out the gallery above to see how effortlessly all the details came together in the amazing photos captured by Ginger Snap Photography, or read on below to hear more about the day through the bride Lauren's eyes.

How did you meet?

We met through a mutual friend at a get together at his house. We became close friends and started dating about a year after we met.

How would you describe your wedding style?

One word: Vintage.

What was totally "you" about your wedding?

Our justice of the peace did a wonderful blending of the wines ceremony. It signified us as individuals coming together as one. The ceremony was very down to earth and really reflected us as a couple.

Biggest challenge:

My mom and sisters helped out with everything, so I didn't have many challenges to overcome thankfully.

Proudest DIY:

My mom and sisters personalized our wedding favors by hand with little moustaches to represent Kevin and red lips for me. I can't thank them enough for their creativity and hard work!

Most worthwhile splurge:

The dress!

What we skipped or did without:

We skipped doing a registry. We didn't like the idea of picking out gifts for our guests to choose from. What mattered most to us was sharing our special day with family and friends. In the end we got some beautiful hand made gifts and cards that meant more than anything store bought would have.

Favorite detail:

I wore my mom's wedding shoes from her wedding. It was so special to be able to wear something of hers with such meaning.

Favorite memory of the day:

Exchanging our hand-written vows to each other.

Your best advice for anyone planning a wedding:

Enjoy your wedding day. Everything is over in the blink of an eye, so it's really important to stay in the moment.

Thanks, Lauren and Kevin!
