These Modernist Houses Are Literally For the Birds

Your typical birdhouse is a classic A-frame—sometimes updated with some Victorian detailing. And while that's nice, what's a mid-century lover to do? That's where Sourgrassbuilt comes in, a California-based company that builds mini versions of modern architecture specifically for your feathered friends.

Owner Douglas Barnhard draws inspiration from architects like Eichler and movements like Bauhaus to create the mini-homes. Using repurposed teak, walnut, bamboo, mahogany, and aluminum, the creations are beautifully detailed, with some including succulent living walls to attract birds, elements from famous buildings, and even one with surfboards in case they get the urge to catch some waves.

The birdhouses start at $149.99.
