The New Hot Color for Kitchens

Those of you who found yourselves a little bored by years and years of kitchens with white cabinets and white marble countertops might just be in luck. No, we're not going back to late-90s dark cherry cabinets (and thank goodness).

It looks like the newest trend for kitchen cabinets is black.

The idea of black cabinets in a kitchen might sound a bit oppressive, but this can actually work quite well in a space with only a few upper cabinets (or with open shelving), where there's lots of white wall (and lots of windows, which means lots of light) to balanced out all the black. And far from seeming trendy or faddish, when paired with subway tile, warm woods, and maybe even a few touches of gold, black cabinets take on a glamorous yet timeless feel.
