Last year we did a quick roundup of the best paper notebooks. We asked for your faves in the comments section and boy did you deliver. We even had reader Jeoffreypoint us in the direction of Notebook Stories, a resource for all things notebook related. Here we've rounded up some reader favorites, so you can find one that's write for you.

Reader Seayah said "Shinola journals are pretty much my Platonic ideal journals." It's easy to see why, there are a ton of great options to choose from but this particular journal is "Linen hard cover American-made journals featuring smyth sewn binding—a superior binding technique that greatly improves overall durability and extends the lifespan of the journal, while enabling the pages to lie perfectly flat."

If you find yourself writing in the rain either out of professional obligation or personal choice, these notebooks will ensure your precious words won't smudge. "If you need a seriously impressive book, our Fabrikoid Books won’t let you down. Everything from the cover, the paper, the sewn-in pages, even the glue is designed to survive Mother Nature’s wrath."

As reader Jberickson let us know last year, "you left out Clairefontaine notebooks. Those are the absolute best." They've been making notebooks since the 1800s and truly know their stuff. "Clairefontaine is a French paper manufacturer that is renowned for its fine quality notebooks. The paper is exceptionally white and ultra-smooth."

Again, a company with a lot of options to choose from. This small, simple and well made notebook is ruled, environmentally friendly and lies flat when open.

Seapartridge said "Fabriano, which they sell at Blick art stores, is fabulous! They do notebooks with a dot pattern, which I prefer to lines." This particular notebook is environmentally friendly, good for writing or drafting and a handy size. You can also peruse all of the Fabriano options available at Blick to find one that works for you!

You can get all manner of things at Muji, a mega-popular Japanese company that's been around since 80s, and all manner of notebooks. These simple notebooks appeal to the environmentally friendly crowd, but browse the options to find the size and paper type that's right for you. Added bonus, Ira Glass is a fan!
