When you're a teenager your bedroom is a really important space — a place to work, to hang out, to create, and to retreat from the cares of the world. It's a deeply personal place, and you want it to be a room that reflects who you are and what you love. These five teen bedrooms (ok, one belongs to a nine-year-old, but we couldn't resist including it) are super stylish and yet still incredibly personal, with plenty of inspiration for any budding decorator. Whether you're a teenager, or still living with mom and dad, or just a person who has a bedroom and likes nice things, you'll find plenty to inspire you here.

Up top and above: This dreamy dark space is a teen boy's bedroom by Kristin Jackson of The Hunted Interior, spotted on Domino. You can find instructions for the DIYs featured in this room here, here, and here.

Katie, a 15-year-old from South Carolina, decorated her room with bold colors balanced by graphic patterns in black and white. It's a fun, inspiring space that's also mature enough to work for her as she grows up.

This stylish room belongs to Nicholas, a 16-year-old with an impressive collection of Midcentury Modern furniture. Lofting the bed means he can squeeze a lot of things, including a sofa and a work table for homework and art, into a room that's only 100 square feet.

The bedroom of this teen girl (from Jeanne Oliver Designs) celebrates her love for music.

Ok, so she's only nine (or was at the time Apartment Therapy posted this tour of her bedroom), but Ella's playful and sophisticated space provides plenty of inspiration for a teen bedroom — or even an adult one.
