Bride & Groom: Ashley & Ca'Ron
Wedding Date: June 12, 2014
Venue: Maison La Vigne Bed & Breakfast in Hapeville, Georgia
Number of guests: 6
"Don't be afraid to go small." That's bride Ashley's best piece of advice for future couples looking to tie the knot with a sweet and simple ceremony. All you really need to say "I do" is a place, an officiant and, if you're lucky, a musically-inclined groom to serenade you down the aisle while he strums a guitar.
Ashley and Ca'Ron's nuptials took place in front of only six close family members on the cozy front courtyard of a quaint Bed and Breakfast in Hapeville, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. Hosting such a small wedding gives you an opportunity to ensure that every element of the day is full of meaning and personal touches. As Ashley walked down the aisle with a bouquet of flowers from her father's garden wrapped in fabric from her mother's wedding dress, talented Ca'Ron picked up his guitar to serenade his bride down the aisle. After the vows, the couple invited their six guests up on the porch to enjoy cupcakes and toast with champagne.
We caught up with Ashley and she shared some of the details with us and recalled some of their favorite moments of this sweet and simple day. Scroll down to read what she shared, then click through the gallery to check out more photos from the talented Elle Golden Photography.
How did you meet?
Ca'Ron played drums on the worship team as a part of a church plant [the establishment of a new church]. I decided to try the church out since one of my really good friends was a part of the staff. I loved it (especially the worship!) and began attending regularly. Ca'Ron and I would both attend group functions, but it took him several months to add me on Facebook and then eventually ask me to lunch. We started dating on June 20, 2013 and were married almost a year later!
How would you describe your wedding style?
I'd have to say resourceful and stress-free. I like to think of myself as an expert Googler. When I found Maison La Vigne, I knew I wanted to get married there. It's so perfectly cute that I didn't add a single decoration! We literally only brought clothes, cupcakes, chairs, favor baskets and Ca'Ron's guitar.
What was totally "you" about your wedding?
Ca'Ron's all about music, so it was really special for him to play and sing to me as I walked down the sidewalk aisle and then for us to worship with our guests together.
I didn't do it myself, but my mom and dad surprised me with my flowers. Zinnias are special to my family, so my dad plants them next to the road on his farm for passersby to enjoy. They made a bouquet and wrapped it in a piece of my mom's wedding dress for me to carry down the aisle.
Most worthwhile splurge:
Photography. I'm obsessed with our pictures! They are worth every penny (plus some!), but considering the fact that our total wedding experience and Savannah mini-moon cost less than $2,000, it did represent a big chunk of our budget.
What we skipped or did without:
A lot... attendants, a bunch of guests, a reception, etc. But we don't regret it!
The Maison La Vigne was the perfect setting. We exchanged vows under an arch in the front, had cupcakes and champagne on the porch, took pictures around back, had cooking lessons with our gracious host in the kitchen, and spent the night in the fanciest room available!
Favorite memory of the day:
Sneaking kisses and giggling during the cooking lesson.
Your best advice for anyone planning a wedding like yours:
Don't be scared to go small! Our tiny wedding was incredible, and we're still just as married and just as in love as we would have been if we'd gone with a traditional wedding.
Thanks, Ashley & Ca'Ron!
