Our Editors' Favorite Fall Lipsticks (One is Under $2!)

While there are no hard and fast rules anymore about wearing white after Labor Day or magenta lipstick year round, the change of seasons can spark a desire for warmer hues and deeper colors. We asked our editors to share their go-to fall lipsticks, and they range from Sephora splurges to drugstore steals.

Lancôme Rouge in Love Lipcolor in Fiery Attitude, $29

Arlyn: I love it for a few reasons: the color lasts and lasts but it doesn't dry out my lips like other long-lasting lip colors, the pigment is super deep and rich with a little glossiness to it. Every time I wear it, people ask me what color it is. It makes me feel powerful!

Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Jam, $18

Katie: As someone who loves a berry-tinted fall lip but can't handle a super pigmented lipstick (it always ends up smudging off after my first sip of coffee anyway), I'm a fan of Glossier's sheer Generation G lipstick. The color "Crush" is pink with the slightest raspberry hint, while "Jam" is a richer berry shade for a full-on fall look. Definitely going to take this one apple picking.

Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard, $7

Taryn: I became hooked on this deep red shade last summer, but it's a perfect autumn lip color. Super easy and quick to apply—I mean, it's a crayon—and really richly pigmented. Plus the staying power of these Burt's Bees crayons is unreal. The color is especially versatile, too: I've since turned other friends onto Napa Vineyard, and it seems to suit every complexion under the sun.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Damned, $20

Tara: I skipped the dark lip trend in the '90s, but now I am all about it. While it can definitely go grunge/goth, the black cherry hue—just a bit more red than true black—can add a little edge to any look (I definitely rocked it the other day with preppy cords and a big plaid scarf #autumnal).

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Cherry Bomb, $1.99

Brittney: This was the first lipstick I ever felt confident wearing, and it's my signature color—I wear it year-round, but since it's a dark rich burgundy, it's especially good for fall. It goes on super smooth, doesn't feather, lasts for hours and isn't drying. Plus, it's only $1.99 (which I still can't wrap my head around, because it's so good.)
