Before & After: The "Hospital Ward" Guest Room Makeover

This is what my guest room looked like 6 months after moving into my new home eight years ago, and this is how it's looked every since. White walls, metal twin bed with a wool camp blanket, and a former doctor's table helped the room earn its nickname as "the hospital ward." This month I swapped out the bed, which led to a lighting project, which led to wallpaper and soon the room was pretty much redone.

Inside of all that white, I went deep with a navy Sashiko-style patterned wallpaper called Yabane - Arrow Feathers from Spoonflower. It's removable so if I get tired of the pattern, I can always switch it up down the road. But for now I'm loving the change — especially the moody wall color paired with some crisp white decor that looks great against the decor.

Oh, and HEY! This room also has a really juicy secret, which you can read all about here.

Otherwise, I'm a sucker for multiple patterns, so I went for it. Bedding layers include a basic white IKEA DVALA comforter, a floral linen coverlet from Anthropologie (shhh, it's actually a tablecloth), blanket from West Elm, sheets from Target, and pillows from Target.

The room is finished off with a bunch of vintage artwork, pretty books, travel souvenirs, and a plant (albeit a slightly sad looking plant).
